Biography
Hussam Abdellatif obtained his B.S. in Electrical Engineering and minor in Computer Science at the University at Buffalo (UB) in May, 2019. Between June 2019 and July 2020, he worked as a Wireless Modem Engineer at Qualcomm Inc. Now, he is a Ph.D. student and graduate researcher in the Ultrabroadband Nanonetworking Laboratory, working under the supervision of Professor Josep M. Jornet. His current research interests include real-time signal processing and system integration of an ultra-broadband communication system. Hussam is currently working on the development side of our software defined radio operating at multi-GHz of bandwidth with the use of an RFSoC and our 130 GHz front-end antennas. Hussam has been working on the physical and mac layer implementation, RF analog component integration and design, embedded system and custom high speed peripheral links in/out of the FPGA to enable a full end-to-end communication system operating at excess of 40 Gbps. Alongside his journey at Northeastern University, Hussam has done two internships at Apple in California in the wireless systems team, and hardware {FPGA prototyping} team, and collaborated with Keysight on developing the world’s fastest SDR using their USPA solution.

- Real-Time Multi-GHz {8,10 GHz} SDR for Sub-THz Communication
- Development of multi-phase DSP algorithms for an OFDM PHY Layer on an FPGA
- FPGA over-clocking and resource optimization for Ultra-High Speed Processing
- Bit-Rates Achieved: 50-70 Gbps
- Demos: AFRL, 6G Symposium, 6G Summit NYU
- Keysight USPA Platform: PHY Accelerator for 6G
- Designed an OFDM wireless physical layer communication system tailored for 6G (sub-THz) for Keysight’s USPA hardware.
- Utilizing the fastest built in data converters with 68 Giga-samples per second sampling rates in real time. Our design balances resource consumption, over-clocking, high degree of parallelism to find the sweet spot to achieve 100 Gbps wireless comm link at 130 GHz (fastest real-time demonstrated link) with low latency.
- Keysight USPA is an extremely high-performance, flexible, fully programmable real-time platform for developing and testing new signal processing algorithms, ultrafast data generation and acquisition, and a broad range of ASIC and system-on-a-chip (SoC) rapid prototyping applications.
- MAC Protocols for Sub-THz / THz Wireless Communication
