Biography
Xavier Cantos-Roman was born in Barcelona, Spain, in 1997. He received his B.S. in Telecommunications Engineering from Barcelona School of Telecommunications Engineering (ETSETB), Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Spain, in 2019. He is currently pursuing his M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at Northeastern University, MA, under the guidance of Professor Josep Miquel Jornet.
From September 2018 to January 2019, he was a participant of the Challenge Based Innovation program focused on the United Nations Development Goals, hosted at IdeaSquare, CERN, Switzerland. His multidisciplinary team (with ESADE Business School and IED Barcelona) developed a system to bring effective primary and secondary education to those who are unable to access traditional infrastructure and education programs.
From February 2019 to August 2019, he was a visiting research student in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York, NY, where he developed his bachelor thesis. From September 2021 to December 2021, he interned in the R&I department at InterDigital, NY, where he worked in the design and simulation of a bistatic radar system using 5G signals.
His current research interests include the modeling and simulation of THz plasmonic devices, the modeling and analysis of the propagation of THz signals and, the experimental study of joint communication and sensing in the THz band.
